Here's what some of our students, parents and patrons have to say about FLCT:

From Parents:

"As the parent of a child who never really "fit in" with the athletic crowd (which was the majority) at his tiny school, my husband and I struggled to find a place where our shy, skinny little 12 year old boy felt secure. We wandered into the old theatre on Andrews, where he tried out for "Honk". When he wasn't cast, we were sure that he would never want to subject himself to auditioning process again, and we would never walk through FLCT's doors again.  Wrong!  He was bitten, smitten by the wonderful staff and other students here. He has made many life-long friends, and participated in more than ten productions, be and behind the scenes in crew.  Six years later, our entire family has walked through FLCT's ever-changing doors countless times.  You see, the FLCT bug doesn't just bite your child, it bites the whole family!"

-

"Our daughter's involvement in FLCT has been one of the best things she's ever done!  The staff at FLCT took her under their wing at a young age and gave her the confidence, experience, and support to grow and develop into an extremely capable young woman.  Between classes, performances, back stage assistance and outreach, our child has learned how to relate to all kinds of people, be creative in her endeavors, work hard to achieve her goals, take leadership when needed, help those in need, believe in herself, not to mention, speak, dance and sing in public!  What more could a parent ask for?  The people at FLCT truly care about her, and she knows it.  There couldn't be a better environment for her to grow up in."

-

"Words can not express the gratitude and respect that our family shares for the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre. Our daughter has particiapted in the theatre for over two years, and the benefit to her has been life changing. As a child who struggled to find her niche' in traditional school activities or sports, the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre opened a  world of opportunity. The highest compliment to the theatre is the open heart  with which they welcome all types of children, providing the structure to build upon their talents and ultimately, their self confidence. Equally important is the the lesson of working  together as a "family", which they become, and respecting the individual personalities and talents that are part of the theatre world. I would highly reccommend to any child to experience theatre under the direction  of  the competent  and caring team at the  Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre . No regrets....just WOW!"

-

“FLCT empowers children to tap into their unrealized potential, paving the way for them to become confident young men and woman. I cannot begin to find the right words to thank the staff at FLCT and those responsible for making scholarships available for students who would otherwise not have these opportunities.”

From Students:

-

"I loved being in Cinderella!  My role was  a pixie and I helped the fairy godmother transform Cinderella into her ballgown so she could attend the ball. I loved sprinkling fairy dust as me and the other pixies danced. This was my first show, but I have been coming to classes at FLCT for the past 4 years. It was a great experience being part of a great cast and I made lots of new friends. I really love performing and can't wait to be in another show!!"

-

"So far in my three years of being in FLCT, it has been an exciting adventure and a chance to improve my skills as an actor and pursue my dream. I receive nothing but support and very helpful constructive critisim when I'm learning a part for a play. My entire family feels welcome at FLCT as they connect with all of my friends who are also part of FLCT and enjoy it as much as I do. FLCT has been there for me since the beginning when I went there. All I can add now is to say that they are a loving family who teach me and help to guide me.. THANKS FLCT!!!"

-

“Thank you for being my home away from home and teaching me that every child deserves to be brought up in such a loving, compassionate, inspirational environment. Thank you for teaching us what community means and how essential the arts are. Thank you for teaching me to stand up for what I believe in, even when it's the unpopular opinion. Thank you for making the world a better place one child at a time.”

-

“FLCT has an amazing camp. I have gone there for five years now and I’ve had a great experience.”

About Our Shows:

-

“I must heap praise on The Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre's production of "Sweeney Todd". Sondheim is a challenge for many seasoned adult performers, but these kids, ages 12 to 18, handle the complicated score and themes with maturity and aplomb, delivering a sensational "Sweeney". Thank you Janet Erlick for inviting me to see this stunning show. And thanks to you and your staff for cultivating the theatre stars and audiences of tomorrow.”

-

"Michael and I saw Sweeney Todd last weekend and were BLOWN AWAY by the performance. Professional is an understatement. And children's? Don't be fooled. Their acting could rival many adult professionals. BRAVO one and all!!"

-

“5 stars! Last night was my first experience at the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre. My step daughters were in the Christmas Carol Show. I was extremely impressed with all of the children's acting and singing skills. The sets and costumes were very professionally done. All in all I will definitely be back for more performances. I am extremely proud of all of the kids on stage. It takes a lot of heart to perform on stage and it definitely showed last night. So thank you for an amazing show. I will also be putting the word out for the theater!”

-

"I have seen the production of Cats at least a dozen times. I can honestly say that I never enjoyed it more than the recent production I saw at Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre. From the makeup, costumes and choreography to the energetic enthusiasm of the young talent (14-18) they had me from the moment the show started. With a cast of 35, there were cats everywhere in this small intimate theatre which made the production so much fun. I identified a couple of rising stars which I hope to see in future productions at FLCT."

-

"Thank you or your creative, imaginative, visionary, artistic talents. There was so much happening in the show that if it was on Broadway the patrons would want to come back and see it again and again!"

-

“We saw the performance on Friday night. It was AWESOME! Thank you so much! I loved the fact that the venue was small and intimate! It really made an impact and got me in the Christmas spirit. Happy holidays and great job to all of the actors and staff.”
